Best Places to Eat in Watford – Our Picks!

With the huge range of restaurants and pubs to choose from in the busy centre of Watford we thought we could take a chance to recommend some of the best places to eat in Watford ranging from Italian to Chinese Restaurants there really is something for everyone.

The Royal Oak – Watford HeathThe Royal Oak Watford

We have visited the Royal Oak many times and it still remains a firm favourite of ours. They serve traditional fresh British pub food, using local produce. The general service cannot be beaten and the food was well presented and bursting full of flavours. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed with an open fire which is very welcoming on a cold rainy evening. We would highly recommend The Royal Oak if you are looking for high-quality food in a warm environment.

Lartista WatfordLartista Watford – High Street

This Italian restaurant has been around for over 15 years and is smack bang in the middle of Watford High Street. We are returning customers as the quality of the food is great and the portion sizes are largely making it fantastic value for money. The first time we dined here we arrived at 6pm on a Sunday evening and the place was bustling, we were greeted by the manager who made us feel most welcome and looked after well from then on. The pizzas are made freshly to order from scratch – definitely worth a try!

Barracuda – High StreetBarracuda Watford

Started by two brothers with a vision, Barracuda Watford has been trading for over 6 years and has constantly strived to improve. I ate here just last week and ordered a steak with roasted potatoes, vegetables and a mushroom sauce. The food was Exquisite, everything was seasoned precisely and was cooked to perfection. This was defiantly one of the best customer services orientated restaurants I have eaten at. We also received free limoncello and coffee upon leaving.

Tarboush WatfordTarboush – Market Street

Lebanese food is becoming ever more popular around the world for its flavour, variety and freshness and Tarboush is not an exception. The last time I went was even better than the first so it seems they are continually improving. They operate a bring your own booze policy which makes the evening extremely economical. I took advice from the waiter on what to order and was not disappointed, between two of us we ordered houmous, falafel, kibbeh, fattoush and many other dishes which were all delicious! I would definitely recommend the meze dishes to get a taste of everything on offer.

Rabbanis – Market StreetRabbanis Indian

This Indian restaurant stands out from the rest as it’s authentic and traditional. A lot of the Indians I have been to recently are full of flash lighting and modern décor with bland food. The head chef originates from Bangladesh and has over 25 years’ experience in creating some of the finest dishes. We visited Rabbani’s on a Thursday night and went for the full works, each dish was distinctive with its own flavour and you could tell that the ingredients used were high quality and fresh. The service was attentive yet not annoying, perfect!

The Flower Drum WatfordThe Flower Drum – Market Street

My Personal favourite Chinese in Watford and also above most anywhere else too. My favourite thing about this restaurant is if there is something on the menu that you would like to alter or something that is not on the menu they will always do their best to cater for you. They operate an all you can eat menu on Monday nights and if there is a large group, you can choose anything off the menu as part of the set price.  We visited as we had heard good things and it certainly exceeded expectations. The food was incredible and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would recommend the Salt and Pepper Ribs!
