The latest figures from the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) showed that the number of business travel managers booking serviced apartments increased by 19% in 2015, year on year, with double the number of buyers for whom serviced apartments accounted for more than 50% of their bookings.
What’s more, serviced apartments are now on the radar of business travel managers, with 48% of buyers insisting their staff stay in serviced apartments when their trip exceeds a certain duration. And the trend is set to continue with a third of companies anticipating an increase in their travel and accommodation budget for 2016.
London serviced apartments, in particular, are doing well. London has the largest amount of serviced apartments in any city in Europe, with strong demand meaning a more than 90% occupancy.
Commenting on the upward trend, the MD of ASAP said: “It is extremely heartening to see such positive feedback from the business travel sector who are clearly finding the serviced apartment product really does deliver what the business traveller wants: a more flexible way to stay away with more living space and kitchen facilities.”
At the beginning of the year, Buying Business Travel magazine reported that serviced apartments are now a mainstream accommodation choice for business travellers. There is strong growth in demand from customers who are increasingly opting to book a serviced apartment over a hotel for their UK stay.
Why business travellers love serviced apartments
Employees who have to spend a lot of time away from home because of corporate travellers appreciate our serviced apartments for a number of reasons:
“I had never thought about staying in a serviced apartment until my work colleague recommended them. It was perfect for my two-week long stay. It was also very close to the town so when my family came and stayed at the weekends we could venture out and explore the area.”
“Beautifully decorated apartments in key locations, extremely clean and comfortable. I was amazed that I could rent a whole apartment for the same price I would pay for just a hotel room.”
“The apartment I stayed in was very clean and comfortable, it was great to have a full kitchen rather than just the kettle you get in a hotel room.”
“Both Danny and his assistants were wonderful before and during my stay, and I loved the clear instructions that they had left in the apartment dealing with entrance/exit (it’s quite secure!), appliances and, my favourite, how to connect to the internet. On that point, the internet connection was great, easily enough for me to work with. All the rooms are bright and airy, and they have nice big windows which allow fresh air to come in (which is a nice change from other apartments, which have tiny ones). The building was very quiet throughout my stay, so it was possible to get a good nights sleep without being disturbed at all.”
