There’s good news if you’re staying in one of our serviced apartments in Finchley over the weekend – the Northern Line now runs a 24-hour service on Fridays and Saturdays, stopping at Finchley Central, which is only a five-minute walk from the apartment. Night Tube trains will run approximately every 15 minutes on the High Barnet branch, so it doesn’t matter what you’re doing on your night out in central London, you won’t have to cut it short in order to get the last tube home.
If you’re enjoying an evening out in central London, you can catch the tube home from Leicester Square, Embankment or Tottenham Court Road. (NB although it’s on the Northern Line, you will not be able to join the night tube at Charing Cross Station until June 2017 – in the meantime, use Embankment Station which is only a four minute walk away from Charing Cross.)
So what kind of night out would you like?
From Embankment station – Perhaps one night you can visit the Southbank to enjoy a play at the National Theatre or concert at the Royal Festival Hall, then end the evening strolling along the Thames, enjoying the lights along the river and popping in for a drink or two at one of the many bars. After that, all you need to do is walk across the Golden Jubilee Bridge which takes you to Embankment Station to get the train home.
From Leicester Square station – Another time you might want to experience the buzz of Leicester Square. Chock-a-block full of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and cinemas, you’ll also be close to Shaftesbury Avenue with some of the best London theatres. If you need your funny bone tickled, the world famous Comedy Store is just a couple of blocks away, but there are plenty of other comedy clubs in the area. Alternatively, China Town is a couple of blocks north of Leicester Square – don’t forget the Chinese New Year on 28 January, which in 2017 will fall on a Saturday night. And when you’re full of spring rolls and crispy duck, you’ll just be a short walk away from Leicester Square Station.
From Tottenham Court Road station – There are many bars, pubs and nightclubs within a few minute’s walk of Tottenham Court Road. And the lively and colourful area of Soho which is a ten-minute walk from the station not only has bars, it also has 24-hour cafés, including Bar Italia which has been serving all night espressos for the past 60 years.
From Camden Town station – Further up the Northern Line (and nearer to home) is Camden Town, where, in the daytime, you can visit the famous street market. Live music features highly in Camden’s bars and clubs, including The Roundhouse, an arts venue which attracts top acts like Rizzle Kicks, Adam Ant, the Dandy Warhols and the Wedding Present. And once you’re on the tube train at Camden Town, you’re only around 20 minutes away from putting the kettle on in your serviced apartment!
