Shared office spaces, also called co-working spaces, have taken the world by storm. Mainly set up to give freelancers, entrepreneurs and small businesses a professional workspace away from the distractions of home, they make great ‘office away from the office’ working spaces for businesspeople on the move.
In the UK, hundreds of shared office spaces have signed up to the NearDesk network. Membership of NearDesk will enable you to turn up at a member collaborative workspace and rent a desk – by the hour or the day – for as long as you need it. As most spaces have meeting room space for hire, free WiFi, and lots of new people to network with and chat to over a cup of coffee, you’re bound to be productive and may even pick up a bit of new business along the way.
Here are a few suggestions for collaborative workspaces belonging to the NearDesk network in North London and Hertfordshire:
GFK Business Centre, Watford
Close to the Intu shopping centre, the GFK Business Centre is a short walk away from our Watford apartments. It has a meeting room you can book, conference calling facilities, and printing and copying services are available.
The Regus group has co-working office space available in Watford which is on the same road as our Watford apartments. Whilst Regus is not a member of the NearDesk network, you can still book ‘day office’ space by the hour.
If you’re looking for a space that’s been designed to inspire creativity, Interchange in Camden could be for you. It offers panoramic views of London to inspire you as you work and, if you need to have a break, try the football tables or challenge someone to a game of ping pong.
Kinetic Business Centre Borehamwood
Less than 2km from our Elstree apartments, the Kinetic Business Centre’s 150 parking spaces, 30 hot desks, four meeting rooms and onsite café mean there’ll be more than enough room for you at this flexible office space. And its location close to the M25 and M1 makes it a good point from which to drive to your next business meeting.
DeskLodge, Hemel Hempstead
Funky but functional, DeskLodge has taken elements of Hemel’s history and incorporated it into the design of this shared working space. There are different types of desks that you can use depending on your mood, two large meeting rooms for hire, and free tea and bean-to-cup coffee.
UOE Hub, Hertford
The UOE Hub offers hot desking facilities, high-speed WiFi, tea and coffee and has a meeting room for hire. The Hub is in the same building as the Post Office and UOE Store and business services, which means you can stock up on stationery, do any photocopying or printing you need and buy the kids little gifts, all without leaving the building.
