You can measure the true value of a serviced apartment in different ways, and every year more and more people discover the advantages of having all the comforts of home even when you’re on holiday or on a business trip.
Great value for money
The most obvious value is with cost as opposed to the cost of a hotel room or even a boutique B&B. A Your Apartment serviced apartment can be as little as £110 a night for the whole apartment, which can sleep up to six people. Whilst you could get a nice hotel room for that money, if there were six of you, you’d have to have three rooms between you.
But the savings don’t stop there. What are you planning to do for dinner? In a hotel, you’d have to eat out or spend money on room service. Even if you don’t want to push the boat out, it all adds up. If, say, the six of you eat at a well-known chain of pizza restaurants and you each have a starter, a pizza, half a bottle of wine, a dessert and a coffee, you’ll be looking at a bill of more than £200. If you bought the equivalent amount of food in a supermarket to heat up in the apartment, it’d cost you around £50. And if you wanted to cook from scratch in our fully equipped kitchen, you could save even more money at the same time as eating a healthier meal.
If you decide to make a night of it and go to the cinema after your pizza, you’ll probably pay £10 or more to see the film, and almost the same on snacks – last year, YouGov found that Londoners pay an average of £8.78 on extras per cinema visit, which, between the six of you will work out at £112 give or take a few pennies. If, on the other hand, your group decides to have a similar cinema experience back at the apartment in the form of the latest DVD release, and a large bag of branded popcorn and a large bottle of branded soda each, it’ll come to less than £35. And you won’t have to worry about whether or not to splash out on a cab (or two cabs for six people) back to the apartment afterwards.
In our back-of-the-envelope calculations, staying in an apartment and having a night in as above, will save each person more than £70 per night – working out at around a third of the cost of staying in a hotel and having a modest night out.
A great space
The value of having a lot of space can’t be underestimated. In a serviced apartment, your group will all be together, rather than in small hotel rooms which could be scattered around the building. An apartment also has its own living area to congregate in, rather than having to squash into one of the bedrooms or find enough chairs together in the public areas.
Where Your Apartment differs from most other serviced apartments is that it is our policy to always have a space to give everyone the chance to eat at a dining table. As far as we’re aware, this policy makes us unique in the serviced apartment industry. If there isn’t enough space for a separate dining area, we won’t be adding that apartment to our portfolio, as we fundamentally believe that it’s important for a family – and friends – to have the opportunity to eat together.
