Cassiobury Park

The main town park in Watford, Cassiobury Park, sits within the original grounds of Cassiobury House. Once owned by the Earls of Essex and demolished in 1927. It’s a gorgeous park packed with things for people of all ages to do. There are cafés, splash pools, bandstands, a miniature railway and much more.

Cassiobury Park is also a fantastic place to admire the wildlife of Hertfordshire. With canals that support water pipits, green sandpipers, grey wagtails and redshanks. There are also many exotic trees, some dating back hundreds of years.

Chenies Manor House

One of the UK’s finest Tudor mansions, Chenies Manor House is a Grade 1 listed house set in an estate in the village of Chenies, just seven miles outside Watford. There are some exciting (and spooky) features of the estate include a dungeon, a priest hole and a Mediaeval well. The mansion has seen some royal visitors over the years, including the likes of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I! The grounds are open to the public every Monday and Tuesday between April and October, or look out for their special events.

A striking Edwardian Grade II listed structure, Watford Palace Theatre first opened in 1908 and has been at the heart of the community ever since. The theatre’s team produces plays, musicals, dance and family shows. They run free outdoor festivals, stand-up comedy gigs and creative community projects. Vicarage Road Stadium

Home to Watford FC, Vicarage Road Stadium is a must for any football lover visiting the area. Vicarage Road has been the Watford team’s home since 1922, and currently has a capacity of just over 22,000. The ground also has a stand named after Sir Elton John, a lifelong fan.
